I had to get a second internet source for a co-worker's laptop that I was doing virus triage on, and for whatever reason the stupid thing just would not stay connected if the MacBook display (but not the computer or drive) went to sleep. I have used this modem for nearly a month now and no matter how long I use it, I can't stand the sight of it sticking out of my MacBook. Is it maximized when connected to the CTR500? Not by a long shot. "Pantech UML290 4G LTE works with Cradlepoint CTR500" FYI the PHS300 just reboots constantly when I tested in a 3g area so I have not been able to connect with it in 3g. I am not in a 4g area at present but when I tested my PHS300 it had a max of 9 meg download and that was about the same as a direct connect at that location.
In my Motor home I have the XP gateway, Windows Home server, two win7 boxes and a MacBook all sharing the same WIFI/3g/4g connection, Help I need more bandwidth!! I just switch the connections back and forth on the XP box depending on the connection that I want to share.This also adds protection on my network, one more firewall and NAT and then I feed a 1000 base T, N+ router. During the winter the places that I stay have WIFI provided buy them so I have unlimited Internet while I use the service. You have to run the windows version of VZAcess to use the service. I do so because VZ offers free WIFI at most Boingo/Tengointer Paid access WIFI sites. I normally use an old XP box as an Internet gateway. Yes I know that any computer be Mac, Windows or Linux can share Internet connections. I will post if I am able to get it to connect with the UML290. I am testing with the PHS 300 and next week I will get a new 3g/4g/WIFI and wired Internet router from WIFI Ranger. Most of the time I am able to get demo units from vendors to present at my classes. I travel full time in an RV and conduct computer training classes.
